Gobi Desert Plant Tracks

The vastness of these dunes forces one to savor the details -- otherwise there is no sense of scale. The long slender leaves of the tall grasses naturally bent down to the sands. Around each plant were gorgeous, symetrical and circular tracks that one easily mistook for insect tracks at first. Closer examination revealed the obvious: the leaf-tips scribed tracks in the sand during wind storms.
